I really try to take care of myself, and ensure that what I put in or on my body is natural and good for me when I can. So when I ran out of my usual antiperspirant I thought that I should try something more natural. Tom’s of Maine is brand I am familiar with so I thought that it would be good to try out one of the long-lasting aluminum-free deodorant sticks. Keep reading to see how it worked for me (spoiler alert — it didn’t).

According to Tom’s
- Our effective line of long-lasting, aluminum-free deodorant sticks uses odor-fighting hops to provide 24-hour protection to help keep you feeling fresh throughout the day
- The natural fragrance helps you smell and feel your best!
- We produce this deodorant without aluminum because we respect our customers’ diverse needs and interests

According to Me
I really really wanted to love this deodorant – I used it for a full week before calling it quits and going back to a less natural choice. I am not a sweaty person so I was super surprised how ineffective Tom’s was for me.
There was nothing long lasting about this product. I really like the scent, but within minutes of applying the scent was absorbed and I might as well not have applied anything.
By midday I felt a bit sweaty and stinky – so in an effort to keep natural, I would apply more. By the end of the day I was not smelling fresh and my shirts would have a lingering sweat odor in the armpits. Luckily for me (and my co-workers) I don’t perspire much – otherwise I would be one stinky girl!

I have returned to my previous deodorants because as much as I want to only use natural products, I also want to feel fresh and clean. Tom’s of Maine didn’t work at all for me, and from what I have heard from others who gave it a try, it didn’t work for them either. At this point, for the price of Tom’s of Maine, I cannot recommend trying it.
I’m not totally against trying another natural deodorant product, however I am going to stick with what I know for now . Let me know in the comments if you have had any success with any natural products.
Thx for the info…
oh boo. That sucks it doesn’t work at all. I have a hard time with natural, I don’t sweat a lot and can go a few days without showering or reapplying ant-persperants but can’t even make it one day with natural deodorant. I really like Jasons spray deodorant, it works really well. I feel like all others I have tried are like I may as well not worn anything at all.
I want to try that 3 day deodorant you were telling me about…acknowledging that would be the polar opposite of natural products
Haaa I had high hopes for this one, why is it so difficult to find a good natural deodorant?
Bummer it didn’t work and I’m impressed you stuck with it for a week! I wouldn’t be able to!
