Tarte Rainforest by the Sea Water Foundation

My mid thirties skin has not been kind to  me – dry and flaky, red blotches and dullness.  I was in the market for a lightweight and moisturizing foundation that would help bring some life back to my skin.

Having only good experiences with Tarte products I decided to give the Rainforest by the Sea water foundation a try.

According to Me

This is a fantastic foundation – it it moisturizing and really does last all day. It blends into my skin with a perfect amount of coverage, and is easy to build on for those days where my skin is extra blotchy. My preferred way to apply the foundation is with a foundation brush – however on days I need extra coverage I turn to the beauty blender.

Unlike other liquid foundation the bottle doesn’t have a pump, instead it is a dropper style lid. I actually find this method much easier to control the amount of product I need – as well as making it way easier to apply directly onto the foundation brush/beauty blender.

I am super impressed with this foundation – especially since it really does last all day without drying or flaking.  Since using it daily I have been getting loads of compliments on my complexion.  A little goes a long way so you definitely get your money’s worth out of it. I have paired it with the Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Concealer to create a flawless look.

  1. I loved the whole concept of this foundation but I tried it and it separated on my skin. And that has never happened before to me, with any foundation! I’m happy it worked out for you. xx

  2. Do you know if it would be too moisturizing for oily skin? I have flaky skin too, but it’s still very oily. 😦

    • You know I am not sure. I think it would be ok for oily skin as it isn’t so much rich as it is not drying (if that makes sense) – and it seems to dry well (like a powder but not a powder). I would try it on in Sephora and see how it goes for a day before investing the money though. It’s expensive enough so you really want to ensure your skin is in agreement.

  3. Ooh I need to try this. Do you not use moisturizer then?

    • I still use moisturizer – I am using Glossier Primer lotion. I put that on right when I get us and by the time I have brushed my teeth it is absorbed and I can start with my foundation..But I have terribly dry skin.
