Primer – a necessary evil

As I age I am finding that I can’t quite get away with the same quick and dirty morning makeup routine that I could in my teens and twenties.  Even though I am constantly lying about my age, I can’t seem to fool my skin!

For me, and many other thirty-somethings foundation primer is the key to keeping a youthful look and passing as 23 when necessary.  Not all primers are made equal and after trying a few brands I had committed to Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer.

This primer is lightweight, matte and goes on smooth.  Really it’s the perfect primer except for the price … wow it’s a bit expensive.  Also the packaging, since it’s impossible to get every last bit of pimer out of the tube (unless you cut is open of course).

I’m also trying to save to buy a condo so I’m really trying to be a budget conscious these days, which put me in a bit of a dilemma.

Fortunately I discovered Shoppers Drug Mart’s Quo brand’s Total Perfection Face Primer.  I honestly couldn’t tell the difference in quality between Smashbox’s Primer and Quo’s primer … and Quo is much friendlier to my wallet.  I’m super excited to share an high quality reasonable priced alternative for all you ladies (and gents) who love and/or require a great primer but don’t want to break the bank.
