I have dry skin which is great for the fact that I never suffered from acne, but terrible in the sense that I am at risk for getting wrinkles earlier and get flaky skin all the time! To add to that, I also work in a Hospital so the air is terribly dry and only adds to my scaly face, arms and legs – yesterday I was comparing myself to snake shedding their skin.
I find I can manage the dry skin on my body with bath gloves and some lotion for dry skin (although please let me know if you have great tips to exfoliate). I actually want to get a body butter after I use up my current lotion, which I only got because it worked with new tattoo (which are sensitive to lotions).
My face, on the other hand, is constantly giving me problems. I use a moisturizer for dry skin and add on a moisturizing facial sun screen (now that I’m 30 I’m getting really serious about slowing down wrinkles). I also use a face scrub every week.
I was whining to my mom about my skin and she suggested that I try the Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System from Oil of Olay. So in desperation, I went to Shoppers Drug Mart, used some points and picked up the kit.
Turn out my mother was right. The Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System (well really the brush) is a great and affordable way to care for your face. The brush has 2 speeds and both are really gentle on you skin. You don’t need to stick with the cleanser that comes with it – I’ve actually been using my Biore cleansers I still have from the event a month or so back.
What I like about it is that it’s gentle enough not to irritate or cause micro-tears in the skin but still exfoliates and gets rid of the dead skin. It also opens up the pores and gets out any of the dirt hiding beneath the surface – especially in those harder to scrub places like the sides of your nose.
What I don’t like is that you can’t really take it in the shower with you. So if you are like me and try to do as much as you can in the shower in the morning adopting this system means accepting a slight change in routine.
I believe that the brush is gentle enough to use daily, unlike most facial scrubs. I’m using this in the morning and night and leaving my regular facial scrubs for my Sunday pampering routine (FYI -if you haven’t already, schedule a day a week where you dedicate a few hours for self pampering – you deserve to reward yourself. I like Sundays because then I start my work week fresh).
So far so good -my skin isn’t as gross and flaky and I think the few wrinkles that I do have are less noticeable. If you are looking for an inexpensive and easy way to beef up your face care routine then this product is definitely worth checking out.
